About Sunk Cost Studios
Sunk Cost Studios is an independent games studio based in Germany, founded in 2026. We make the games we would want to play ourselves – no fixed genre, just projects we care about enough to see through. The name is a small confession: once we have started something, we finish it. Our first game, Bodencrew (working title), is a co-op ground crew simulation for 1–4 players, currently in development for PC.
Boilerplate is a draft and may change.

Description
Bodencrew is a co-op simulation for 1–4 players. As the ground crew of a dusty grass airfield, you marshal, fuel, load and push back aircraft – and slowly build the strip into a proper airport hub. Every job is a decision: take it, turn it down, or let it expire, while emergency landings and dubious “special cargo” offers rewrite the day’s plan.
It starts with a grass strip, a shed and a single light aircraft. Jobs come in over the radio all day long, and whoever accepts one has the customer on approach right away. Stands, fuel and equipment are limited, so taking on too much means a queue of increasingly grumpy aircraft on the taxiway.
On the stand, nothing is timed – the pressure lives in the planning, not in the handling. Everything that flies is loaded by the crew: cargo is revenue, fuel is cost, and the weight limit is the risk. Get the balance right, earn money, buy the next parcel of land and grow from turboprops to regional jets and, eventually, airliners.
Bodencrew is set in early-2000s hill country: clipboards, dot-matrix printers, a radio that never stops, and a local station that has opinions about your noise.
Features
- Co-op for 1–4 players with no fixed roles – and solo is a first-class way to play, not a fallback.
- Real turnaround work: marshalling, chocks, fueling, baggage and cargo loading, pushback.
- Every job is a decision: accept, decline or let it expire. Stands, fuel and equipment are limited.
- Load it yourself, earn from it – cargo is revenue, fuel is cost, the weight limit is the risk.
- Chill, not frantic: no timer on the stand. The pressure is in the planning.
- Grow a grass strip into a hub: buy land parcel by parcel, build runways, stands, tower and terminal.
- From single-engine props to turboprops, regional jets and, eventually, airliners.
- Procedurally generated hill country – every campaign has its own map, and seeds can be shared.
- Emergency landings, dubious “special cargo” and a local radio host with strong opinions.
The game is in development; features may still change.
